I bought this to replace the filter in my wife’s Rav4. I have had one for years in my mustang and really like it. So far so good with this filter.

The replacement of the filter was easy and it was a fit perfect. However, I didn’t realize this was a reusable part. I’m now looking to maintenance this piece. If you want something that doesn’t require maintenance and is an easy swap in swap out, this is not the product for you. Otherwise, 5 stars!

I installed this on a Toyota 08 Rav4 v6. I am a noob when it comes to car parts, but I do my research thoroughly, and I don’t consider myself inept. The loss of a star explanation now begins:
1. This air filter is for the ENGINE (under the hood)– *NOT* the cabin air filter!! If anyone (reviewers or manufacturers) mentioned this ANYWHERE, some frustration could have been avoided.
If you didn’t knock yourself out from smacking yourself over my stupidity, read on.
2. Not only was the documentation provided with the air filter lacking for someone of my experience, but the actual owners manual to the vehicle included 0 documentation as well (it did, however, provide info for the cabin air filter. What a tease.) Anyways, I located the engine air filter by process of elimination, and began dis-assembly: Really, really tight squeeze. Moreover, the Lip of the filter does not fit all the way around the frame of the bottom basket; only two sides do, and I was worried that the fit wasn’t correct when I replaced the top part; resulting in me repeating the process. I remained unsure of proper fit until I started the car up and drove it.
Now the goods:
I noticed a slight decrease in acceleration lag time, and a slight increase in MPG. On top of that, I mentioned my ordeal to a few thorough car&racing enthusiasts, who immediately named K&N as a company that makes quality products that produces results. That was Re-assuring.
In sum, I highly recommend this filter along w/ an oil kit, with the reservation of being prepared to take apart components under the hood.
